Atlassian Jira < 8.5.11 / 8.13.3 / 8.15.0 Arbitrary File Read (JRASERVER-72014)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 146824

Synopsis

The remote web server hosts a web application that is affected by an arbitrary file read vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of Atlassian Jira hosted on the remote web server is prior to 8.5.11, 8.13.3, or 8.15.0. It is, therefore, affected by limited arbitrary file read vulnerability related to the 'CachingResourceDownloadReadwriteRule' class due to an improper path access check. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to read arbitrary files within the WEB-INF and META-INF directories.
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Jira version 8.5.11, 8.13.3, 8.15.0 or later.
