Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4727-1 advisory.

 - A local privilege escalation was discovered in the Linux kernel before 5.10.13. Multiple race conditions in the AF_VSOCK implementation are caused by wrong locking in net/vmw_vsock/af_vsock.c. The race conditions were implicitly introduced in the commits that added VSOCK multi-transport support.
 (CVE-2021-26708)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
