Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.10 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4718-1 advisory.

 - receive.c in fastd before v21 allows denial of service (assertion failure) when receiving packets with an invalid type code. (CVE-2020-27638)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected fastd package.
