medium Nessus Plugin ID 144789

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 20.10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4682-1 advisory.

- WavPack 5.3.0 has an out-of-bounds write in WavpackPackSamples in pack_utils.c because of an integer overflow in a malloc argument. NOTE: some third-parties claim that there are later unofficial releases through 5.3.2, which are also affected. (CVE-2020-35738)
