Synopsis

The remote web server is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM HTTP Server running on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability. The RC4 algorithm, as used in the TLS protocol and SSL protocol, does not properly combine state data with key data during the initialization phase, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct plaintext-recovery attacks against the initial bytes of a stream by sniffing network traffic that occasionally relies on keys affected by the Invariance Weakness, and then using a brute-force approach involving LSB values, aka the 'Bar Mitzvah' issue.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM HTTP Server version 8.5.5.6, 8.0.0.11, 7.0.0.39 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack level required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PI34229.
