high Nessus Plugin ID 144302

Synopsis

The remote web server is affected by an HTTP redirect vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM HTTP Server running on the remote host is affected by an HTTP redirect vulnerability related to Apache HTTP Server. The Apache HTTP Server through 2.4.23 follows RFC 3875 section 4.1.18 and therefore does not protect applications from the presence of untrusted client data in the HTTP_PROXY environment variable, which might allow remote attackers to redirect an application's outbound HTTP traffic to an arbitrary proxy server via a crafted Proxy header in an HTTP request, aka an 'httpoxy' issue.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM HTTP Server version 7.0.0.43, 8.0.0.13, 8.5.5.11, 9.0.0.1, or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PI73984.
