Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 20.10 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4630-1 advisory.

 - raptor_xml_writer_start_element_common in raptor_xml_writer.c in Raptor RDF Syntax Library 2.0.15 miscalculates the maximum nspace declarations for the XML writer, leading to heap-based buffer overflows (sometimes seen in raptor_qname_format_as_xml). (CVE-2017-18926)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libraptor2-0, libraptor2-dev and / or raptor2-utils packages.
