New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 9.5
Synopsis
The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.
Description
The version of tested product installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2-2020-1556 advisory.
- In binder_release_work of binder.c, there is a possible use-after-free due to improper locking. This could lead to local escalation of privilege in the kernel with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation.Product: AndroidVersions: Android kernelAndroid ID:
A-161151868References: N/A (CVE-2020-0423)
- In the Linux kernel through 5.8.7, local attackers able to inject conntrack netlink configuration could overflow a local buffer, causing crashes or triggering use of incorrect protocol numbers in ctnetlink_parse_tuple_filter in net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_netlink.c, aka CID-1cc5ef91d2ff.
(CVE-2020-25211)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Run 'yum update kernel' to update your system.
