Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by weak security bindings

Description

The IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is version 8.0.0.x prior to 8.0.0.14, 8.5.0.x prior to 8.5.5.12 or 9.0.x prior to 9.0.0.5. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability in the web services security bindings settings. If cipher suites were changed in the web services security bindings settings, they may not have been saved properly and thus be weaker than expected.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.12, 9.0.0.5, or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PI80889.
