Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-4507-1 advisory.

- ncmpc through 0.29 is prone to a NULL pointer dereference flaw. If a user uses the chat screen and another client sends a long chat message, a crash and denial of service could occur. (CVE-2018-9240)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected ncmpc and / or ncmpc-lyrics packages.
