New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 5.1
SynopsisThe remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.
DescriptionThe version of tested product installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2-2020-1489 advisory.
- In Dovecot before 184.108.40.206, uncontrolled recursion in submission, lmtp, and lda allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (resource consumption) via a crafted e-mail message with deeply nested MIME parts. (CVE-2020-12100)
- In Dovecot before 220.127.116.11, sending a specially formatted NTLM request will crash the auth service because of an out-of-bounds read. (CVE-2020-12673)
- In Dovecot before 18.104.22.168, sending a specially formatted RPA request will crash the auth service because a length of zero is mishandled. (CVE-2020-12674)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
SolutionRun 'yum update dovecot' to update your system.
