Synopsis

The backup service installed on the remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability

Description

IBM Spectrum Protect, formerly known as Tivoli Storage Manager, running on the remote host is version 7.1.x <= 7.1.10.000 or 8.1.x <= 8.1.10.000. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue, to impose a DoS condition on the application.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to IBM Spectrum Protect 7.1.11.000 or 8.1.10.100 or later.
