Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to the self-reported version of Junos OS, the remote device is affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability due to its implementation of LLDP. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this, by sending crafted LLDP packets from an adjacent device, in order to cause LLDP to crash.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the relevant Junos software release referenced in Juniper advisory JSA11027
