Synopsis

The remote Windows host contains a media player that is affected by denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of VLC media player installed on the remote host with version prior to 2.2.4, is affected by a denial of service vulnerability. A buffer overflow in the DecodeAdpcmImaQT function in modules/codec/adpcm.c in VideoLAN allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted QuickTime IMA file.

Solution

Upgrade to VLC version 2.2.4 or later.
