Synopsis
A PHP application running on the remote web server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.
Description
According to its self-reported version, the instance of Joomla! running on the remote web server is 2.5.x prior to 3.9.19. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities.
- In Joomla! before 3.9.19, lack of input validation in the heading tag option of the Articles - Newsflash and Articles - Categories modules allows XSS.
(CVE-2020-13761)
- In Joomla! before 3.9.19, the default settings of the global textfilter configuration do not block HTML inputs for Guest users. (CVE-2020-13763)
- In Joomla! before 3.9.19, incorrect input validation of the module tag option in com_modules allows XSS.
(CVE-2020-13762)
- In jQuery versions greater than or equal to 1.2 and before 3.5.0, passing HTML from untrusted sources - even after sanitizing it - to one of jQuery's DOM manipulation methods (i.e. .html(), .append(), and others) may execute untrusted code. This problem is patched in jQuery 3.5.0. (CVE-2020-11022)
- In jQuery versions greater than or equal to 1.0.3 and before 3.5.0, passing HTML containing elements from untrusted sources - even after sanitizing it - to one of jQuery's DOM manipulation methods (i.e. .html(), .append(), and others) may execute untrusted code. This problem is patched in jQuery 3.5.0. (CVE-2020-11023)
- In Joomla! before 3.9.19, missing token checks in com_postinstall lead to CSRF. (CVE-2020-13760)
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to Joomla! version 3.9.19 or later.
