F5 Networks BIG-IP : BIG-IP APM portal access reflected XSS vulnerability (K24415506)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 136134

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 14.1.2.4 / 15.0.1.3 / 15.1.0.2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K24415506 advisory.

- On versions 15.1.0-15.1.0.1, 15.0.0-15.0.1.2, and 14.1.0-14.1.2.3, in BIG-IP APM portal access, a specially crafted HTTP request can lead to reflected XSS after the BIG-IP APM system rewrites the HTTP response from the untrusted backend server and sends it to the client. (CVE-2020-5889)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K24415506.
