Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Firefox ESR installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 68.6.1. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the mfsa2020-11 advisory.

- Under certain conditions, when running the nsDocShell destructor, a race condition can cause a use-after-free.
We are aware of targeted attacks in the wild abusing this flaw. (CVE-2020-6819)

- Under certain conditions, when handling a ReadableStream, a race condition can cause a use-after- free. We are aware of targeted attacks in the wild abusing this flaw. (CVE-2020-6820)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox ESR version 68.6.1 or later.
