McAfee Endpoint Security for Windows 10.5.x / 10.6.x / 10.7.0.x Improper Access Control (SB10314)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 135181

Synopsis

The remote host is affected by an improper access control vulnerability.

Description

The version of the McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) for Windows installed on the remote Windows host is 10.5.x , 10.6.x, or 10.7.0.x. It is, therefore, affected by an improper access control vulnerability in ESConfigTool.exe which allows a local administrator to alter the ENS configuration up to and including disabling all protection offered by ENS via insecurely implemented encryption of configuration for export and import.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to McAfee Endpoint Security version 10.6.1.2014, 10.7.0.1961, or later.
