Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7 Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability in TIA Portal (SSA-629512)

high Nessus Plugin ID 133216
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

An application installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

The version of Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7 (TIA Portal) installed on the remote Windows host is prior to version 14 SP1 update 10, or version 15 SP1 update 4, or version 16 update 1. It is, therefore, affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability in TIA portal. An authenticated local attacker can execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Update to TIA Portal V14 SP1 Update 10, or TIA Portal V15 SP1 Update 4, or TIA Portal V16 Update 1 or later .
