Synopsis

An application installed on the remote macOS / Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Wireshark installed on the remote macOS / Mac OS X host is prior to 3.2.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the wireshark-3.2.1 advisory.

 - In Wireshark 3.2.x before 3.2.1, the WASSP dissector could crash. This was addressed in epan/dissectors/packet-wassp.c by using >= and <= to resolve off-by-one errors. (CVE-2020-7044)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Wireshark version 3.2.1 or later.
