EulerOS 2.0 SP2 : sendmail (EulerOS-SA-2019-2440)

low Nessus Plugin ID 131594

The remote EulerOS host is missing a security update.

According to the version of the sendmail packages installed, the EulerOS installation on the remote host is affected by the following vulnerability :

- The Sendmail program is a very widely used Mail Transport Agent (MTA).MTAs send mail from one machine to another. Sendmail is not a client program, which you use to read your email. Sendmail is a behind-the-scenes program which actually moves your email over networks or the Internet to where you want it to go.If you ever need to reconfigure Sendmail, you will also need to have the sendmail-cf package installed. If you need documentation on Sendmail, you can install the sendmail-doc package.Security Fix(es):The sm_close_on_exec function in conf.c in sendmail before 8.14.9 has arguments in the wrong order, and consequently skips setting expected FD_CLOEXEC flags, which allows local users to access unintended high-numbered file descriptors via a custom mail-delivery program.(CVE-2014-3956)

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the EulerOS security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Update the affected sendmail package.
