Synopsis
A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.
Description
The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 78.0.3904.70. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 2019_10_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_22 advisory.
- Out of bounds memory access in PDFium in Google Chrome prior to 78.0.3904.70 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted PDF file. (CVE-2019-13706)
- Out of bounds memory access in the gamepad API in Google Chrome prior to 78.0.3904.70 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2019-13700)
- Use after free in media in Google Chrome prior to 78.0.3904.70 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page.
(CVE-2019-13699)
- Incorrect implementation in navigation in Google Chrome prior to 78.0.3904.70 allowed a remote attacker to spoof the contents of the Omnibox (URL bar) via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2019-13701)
- Inappropriate implementation in installer in Google Chrome on Windows prior to 78.0.3904.70 allowed a local attacker to perform privilege escalation via a crafted executable. (CVE-2019-13702)
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to Google Chrome version 78.0.3904.70 or later.
