SynopsisA 3S CODESYS V3 environment on the remote host is affected by a password transmission vulnerability.
DescriptionThe 3S CODESYS V3 environment running on the remote host is affected by a password transmission vulnerability due to weak password encryption within the CmpUserMgr component. An unauthenticated, adjacent attacker could exploit this vulnerability, via network transmission interception, to obtain user credentials to the device.
Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
SolutionUpgrade 3S CODESYS V3 environment to version 184.108.40.206 or higher.
Additionally, this vulnerability can be mitigated by enabling TLS based encryption.
