Synopsis

The remote web server contains an .NET application that is affected multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of DNN Platform (formerly DotNetNuke) running on the remote host is 7.0.0 or later but prior to 9.3.1. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities including the following:

- A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists due to improper validation of user-supplied input before returning it to users. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted URL, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session.

- An information disclosure vulnerability exists in the DNN Platform due to the use of weak cryptography. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this to disclose potentially sensitive information.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to DNN Platform version 9.3.1 or later.
