Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for freerdp.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2019:0697 advisory.

- freerdp: Integer truncation leading to heap-based buffer overflow in update_read_bitmap_update() function (CVE-2018-8786)

- freerdp: Integer overflow leading to heap-based buffer overflow in gdi_Bitmap_Decompress() function (CVE-2018-8787)

- freerdp: Out-of-bounds write in nsc_rle_decode() function (CVE-2018-8788)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL freerdp package based on the guidance in RHSA-2019:0697.
