Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 18.10 : network-manager vulnerability (USN-3807-1)
High Nessus Plugin ID 118751
SynopsisThe remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.
DescriptionFelix Wilhelm discovered that the NetworkManager internal DHCPv6 client incorrectly handled certain DHCPv6 messages. In non-default configurations where the internal DHCP client is enabled, an attacker on the same network could use this issue to cause NetworkManager to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
SolutionUpdate the affected network-manager package.
