Google Chrome < 64.0.3282.167 Vulnerability

high Nessus Plugin ID 106841

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 64.0.3282.167. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 2018_02_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_13 advisory.

- Type confusion could lead to a heap out-of-bounds write in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 64.0.3282.168 allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside a sandbox via a crafted HTML page.
(CVE-2018-6056)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 64.0.3282.167 or later.
