New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 1.4
Synopsis
The remote Debian host is missing a security update.
Description
Ralph Dolmans and Karst Koymans found a flaw in the way unbound validated wildcard-synthesized NSEC records. An improperly validated wildcard NSEC record could be used to prove the non-existence (NXDOMAIN answer) of an existing wildcard record, or trick unbound into accepting a NODATA proof.
For more information please refer to the upstream advisory at https://unbound.net/downloads/CVE-2017-15105.txt.
For Debian 7 'Wheezy', these problems have been fixed in version 1.4.17-3+deb7u3.
We recommend that you upgrade your unbound packages.
NOTE: Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the DLA security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
Solution
Upgrade the affected packages.
