Fedora 26 : git (2017-742be0e59c)
Medium Nessus Plugin ID 104827
SynopsisThe remote Fedora host is missing a security update.
DescriptionPrevious versions of git mishandled layers of tree objects, which allowed remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a crafted repository, aka a git bomb. This can also have an impact of disk consumption; however, an affected process typically would not survive its attempt to build the data structure in memory before writing to disk.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Fedora update system website.
Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
SolutionUpdate the affected git package.
