Google Chrome < 61.0.3163.100 Multiple Vulnerabilities

high Nessus Plugin ID 103422

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 61.0.3163.100. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 2017_09_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_21 advisory.

- Inappropriate use of table size handling in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 61.0.3163.100 for Windows allowed a remote attacker to trigger out-of-bounds access via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2017-5122)

- Inappropriate use of JIT optimisation in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 61.0.3163.100 for Linux, Windows, and Mac allowed a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside a sandbox via a crafted HTML page, related to the escape analysis phase. (CVE-2017-5121)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 61.0.3163.100 or later.
