4.4.3 Restrict Access to SYSIBMADM.PRIVILEGES

Information

The SYSIBMADM.PRIVILEGES administrative view displays all explicit privileges for all authorization IDs in the currently connected databases' system catalogs. PRIVILEGES schema is SYSIBMADM.

Rationale:

Any databases created without the RESTRICT option automatically GRANT the SELECT privilege to PUBLIC for catalog views. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to explicitly REVOKE the SELECT privilege on SYSIBMADM.PRIVILEGES from PUBLIC to reduce risk a malicious user may use this view to conduct information gathering regarding the privileges that users have.

Solution

Perform the following to revoke access from PUBLIC.

Connect to the Db2 database.

db2 => connect to <dbname>

Run the following command:

db2 => revoke select on SYSIBMADM.PRIVILEGES from public
