Ubuntu 6.06 LTS / 6.10 / 7.04 : libapache2-mod-perl2 vulnerability (USN-488-1)

Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2007-2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2007-2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related
patches.

Description :

Alex Solovey discovered that mod_perl did not correctly validate
certain regular expression matches. A remote attacker could send a
specially crafted request to a web application using mod_perl, causing
the web server to monopolize CPU resources. This could lead to a
remote denial of service.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected libapache2-mod-perl2, libapache2-mod-perl2-dev and
/ or libapache2-mod-perl2-doc packages.

Risk factor :

Medium / CVSS Base Score : 4.3
