Synopsis

The remote DNS server may be affected by a remote denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of ISC BIND detected on this server is known to improperly handle malformed RDATA data within a DNS query. This can trigger a denial of service when processing such a packet.

Solution

Vendor patches are available. Upgrade to the patched release most closely related to your current version: BIND 9 version 9.8.5-P2, 9.9.3-P2, 9.9.3-S1-P1. Alternatively, upgrade to the latest production version of BIND 9.
