ISC BIND 9.6-ESV-R9 / 9.8.5 / 9.9.3 Remote DoS

High Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 6865

The remote DNS server may be affected by a remote denial of service vulnerability.

ISC BIND versions 9.6-ESV-R9, 9.8.5, and 9.9.3 are prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability because it fails to properly handle the recursive query for zones. Attackers can exploit this issue to crash the affected application, denying service to legitimate users.

Upgrade to the patched version 9.9.3-P1, 9.8.5-P1, or 9.6-ESV-R9-P1.
