Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability as referenced in the 7274072 advisory.

 - IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Application Server Liberty are vulnerable to remote code execution in the Web Server Plug-ins, through a specially crafted request. CWE: CWE-94: Improper Control of Generation of Code ('Code Injection') (CVE-2026-8633)

 - IBM WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Application Server Liberty are vulnerable to HTTP request smuggling in the Web Server Plug-ins through a specially crafted request. CWE: CWE-444: Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests ('HTTP Request/Response Smuggling') (CVE-2026-8620)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH71342.
