F5 Networks BIG-IP : glibc vulnerability (K54823184)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 184253

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K54823184 advisory.

- In the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) through 2.29, proceed_next_node in posix/regexec.c has a heap- based buffer over-read via an attempted case-insensitive regular-expression match. (CVE-2019-9169)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K54823184.
