Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 21.04 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5028-1 advisory.

- A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability in jp2image.cpp of Exiv2 0.27.3 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (DOS) via crafted metadata. (CVE-2021-31291)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
