Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 15.04 : spice vulnerability (USN-2736-1)

Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2015-2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2015-2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Description :

Frediano Ziglio discovered that Spice incorrectly handled monitor
configs. A malicious guest could use this issue to cause a denial of
service, or possibly execute arbitrary code on the host as the user
running the QEMU process. In the default installation, when QEMU is
used with libvirt, attackers would be isolated by the libvirt AppArmor
profile.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected libspice-server1 package.

Risk factor :

Medium / CVSS Base Score : 6.9
(CVSS2#AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)
CVSS Temporal Score : 5.6
(CVSS2#E:U/RL:U/RC:UR)
