Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 16.04 LTS : rtmpdump vulnerabilities (USN-3283-1)

Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2017 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2017 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related
patches.

Description :

Dave McDaniel discovered that rtmpdump incorrectly handled certain
malformed streams. If a user were tricked into processing a specially
crafted stream, a remote attacker could cause rtmpdump to crash,
resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected librtmp0 and / or librtmp1 packages.
