1.2.4 Ensure Red Hat Network or Subscription Manager connection is configured

Information

Systems need to be registered with the Red Hat Network (RHN) or Red Hat Subscription Manager (RHSM) to receive patch updates. This is usually configured during initial installation.

Rationale:

It is important to register with the Red Hat Network to make sure that patches are updated on a regular basis. This helps to reduce the exposure time as new vulnerabilities are discovered.

NOTE: Nessus has provided the target output to assist in reviewing the benchmark to ensure target compliance.

Solution

Run one of the following commands to connect to either the Red Hat Network or Red Hat Subscription Manager:

# rhn_register
# subscription-manager register
