18.10.79.1 Ensure 'Enables or disables Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting' is set to 'Disabled'

Information

This setting enables or disables the Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting features. This feature allows users to record gameplay, take screenshots, and capture audio.

The recommended state for this setting is: Disabled.

Users could record and broadcast session info to external sites, which is both a risk of accidentally exposing sensitive company data (on-screen) outside the company as well as a privacy concern.

Solution

To establish the recommended configuration via GP, set the following UI path to Disabled:

Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting\Enables or disables Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting

Note: This Group Policy path is provided by the Group Policy template GameDVR.admx/adml that is included with the Microsoft Windows 10 RTM (version 1507) Administrative Templates (or newer).

Impact:

Windows Game Recording will not be allowed.
