20.3 Ensure 'Microsoft Internet Explorer is not installed on the system'

Information

Rationale:

Installed software that is no longer supported can introduce vulnerabilities and make the system susceptible to attacks.

Impact:

Internet Explorer can not be used as a web browser.

NOTE: Nessus has not performed this check. Please review the benchmark to ensure target compliance.

Solution

Uninstall Microsoft Internet Explorer from the system.
On the system, uninstall Internet Explorer via Apps & Features

Navigate to Settings

Navigate to Apps & Features

Click on Internet Explorer

Click Uninstall

Reboot the system

Ensure IE uninstalled by following the audit procedure

Note: Recommendation 'Only Authorized Software is Installed' can also ensure that Microsoft Internet Explorer is not installed on the system.
