Ubuntu 10.04 LTS / 11.10 : jquery vulnerability (USN-1722-1)

Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2013-2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2013-2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Description :

It was discovered that jQuery incorrectly handled selecting elements
using location.hash, resulting in a possible cross-site scripting
(XSS) issue. With cross-site scripting vulnerabilities, if a user were
tricked into viewing a specially crafted page, a remote attacker could
exploit this to modify the contents, or steal confidential data,
within the same domain.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected libjs-jquery package.

Risk factor :

Medium / CVSS Base Score : 4.3
(CVSS2#AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N)
