medium Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 8355

Synopsis

The BlackBerry mobile device is vulnerable to an authentication bypass.

Description

Versions of BlackBerry 10.x earlier than 10.2.1.1925 are affected by an authentication bypass vulnerability due to its failure to restrict file access in the Wi-Fi sharing service. An attacker can leverage this issue to read, write, or modify data available through the offered fileshares.

Solution

Upgrade to BlackBerry 10.2.1.1925 or later. The issue may also be mitigated by disabling "Access using Wi-Fi" in the "Settings / Storage and Access" dialog.
