Mozilla Firefox for Android < 29.0 Addressbar/Phishing

high Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 8245

Synopsis

The remote Android host was detected using an outdated version of Mozilla Firefox.

Description

Versions of Mozilla Firefox older than 29.0 contain a flaw wherein the addressbar can be suppressed from exposure when it has scrolled off screen, via the use of script interacting with DOM events. This can be leveraged by an attacker to display a fake addressbar to the user, which could be used for phishing attacks.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox 29.0 for Android (or later) from the Google Play app store.
