Description

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-202301-07 (Alpine: Multiple Vulnerabilities)

- In Alpine before 2.25, untagged responses from an IMAP server are accepted before STARTTLS.
(CVE-2021-38370)

- Alpine before 2.25 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) when LIST or LSUB is sent before STARTTLS. (CVE-2021-46853)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

All Alpine users should upgrade to the latest version:

# emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose >=mail-client/alpine-2.25
