Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

Under certain conditions for BIG-IP systems using a virtual server with an associated FastL4 profile and TCP analytics profile, a specific sequence of packets may cause the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) to restart. (CVE-2016-9247)

Impact

An attacker may be able to disrupt traffic or cause the BIG-IP system to fail over to another device in the device group.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K33500120.
