Ubuntu 12.04 LTS / 14.04 LTS / 16.04 LTS / 16.10 : gst-plugins-good0.10, gst-plugins-good1.0 vulnerability (USN-3135-2)

Ubuntu Security Notice (C) 2016 Canonical, Inc. / NASL script (C) 2016 Tenable Network Security, Inc.

Synopsis :

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related
patches.

Description :

USN-3135-1 fixed a vulnerability in GStreamer Good Plugins. The
original security fix was incomplete. This update fixes the problem.

Chris Evans discovered that GStreamer Good Plugins did not correctly
handle malformed FLC movie files. If a user were tricked into opening
a crafted FLC movie file with a GStreamer application, an attacker
could cause a denial of service via application crash, or execute
arbitrary code with the privileges of the user invoking the program.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding
description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable
has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible
without introducing additional issues.

Solution :

Update the affected gstreamer0.10-plugins-good and / or
gstreamer1.0-plugins-good packages.

Risk factor :

High / CVSS Base Score : 9.3

CVSS Temporal Score : 7.7
(CVSS2#E:F/RL:OF/RC:ND)
