Synopsis

The firewall running on the remote device is affected by a command injection vulnerability.

Description

The Topsec firewall running on the remote device is affected by a command injection vulnerability, known as ELIGIBLECANDIDATE, in the the web interface due to invalid sanitization of input by the cookie deletion function. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, via a crafted request, to run arbitrary shell commands on the device.

ELIGIBLECANDIDATE is one of multiple Equation Group vulnerabilities and exploits disclosed on 2016/08/14 by a group known as the Shadow Brokers.

Solution

Upgrade the Topsec firmware to the latest version.
