Ubuntu 14.04 LTS : Libtasn1 vulnerability (USN-2559-1)

low Nessus Plugin ID 82659

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

Hanno Bock discovered that Libtasn1 incorrectly handled certain ASN.1 data. A remote attacker could possibly exploit this with specially crafted ASN.1 data and cause applications using Libtasn1 to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
